Your Exam
FOR YOUR EXAM, PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING:

These thorough medical evaluations are strategically scheduled in deference to your and your fellow member’s personal schedules. It is important that you adhere to the schedule, therefore, please arrive at the Health Center exactly at your appointed time.

Introduce yourself at the front desk and please sign in.

Bring any additional documents that you need to have completed; (DOT, EMT, etc.) with you to the exam.

If you are to be mask Fit Tested, you should be clean shaven and no side burns.

Dress comfortably, and be prepared for a full physical exam. You will undergo a venipuncture for comprehensive blood workup, including tests for prostate (PSA) and Pre-diabetes (HgbA1c). Though not required, fasting may have a good effect on certain blood tests such as cholesterol and glucose.

Please, bring copies of any medical test results that you had performed in the past year. For example, blood work, EKG, x-ray reports. This is helpful if this is your firsts visit with us.

Your time spent here at the evaluation should be no more than 90 minutes. At the end, you will receive verbally from the Physician, your tentative ‘Medical Certification Status’ as a result of the exam. The Physician will also discuss any concerns regarding y our status in your Department. They will offer you suggestions on a comprehensive health maintenance plan. You will also be provided educational materials and an opportunity to review any health issues/questions you may have.
- The information obtained during your exam is extremely confidential and is not shared with anyone, not even the fire department. The fire department receives only a copy of your ‘Medical Certification Status Form’. You will receive this same form in the mail, along with customized Health and Wellness recommendations and a copy of your blood work results.
